Stainless Steel 422 Tubing is a martensitic stainless steel alloy of about 12% chromium with molybdenum, tungsten, and vanadium additions for strength and creep resistance. It is suitable for operation at high temperatures with high tensile strength of about 760–965 MPa and yield strength of about 550 MPa. The alloy retains very good mechanical properties up to 650°C and shows good oxidation resistance and fair corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel 422 is heat treatable, with greater hardness and resistance to thermal fatigue, and is appropriate for parts subject to repeated cycling temperature and high stress.
