Stainless Steel 348 Tubing is a columbium-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with an equivalent composition to grade 347, containing 17–20% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and columbium (niobium) for improved intergranular corrosion resistance. The stabilization helps to prevent carbide precipitation upon welding and exposure to high temperatures for extended periods. The tubing’s tensile strength is generally 515–750 MPa, while the yield strength is approximately 205 MPa. It has mechanical properties at service temperatures of up to 870°C and is weldable, oxidation-resistant, and structurally stable against thermal stress.
